Marie-Phil Dog Breeders

We got our first Gordon Setter back in the fall of 2014. We had begun by importing Delta, our first bitch for breeding. Our long term plan was to raise her from a puppy and that she would begin having her 1st litter in 2018.

We are breeders of Gordon Setters and Cavalier King Charles Spaniels that are of mild temperament and bred to be the perfect family companions. If you are a hunter you will be very impressed by a working dog bred for the job!

Certified Pedigree

All of our puppies and adults have a certification of pedigree going back at least 3 generations. By using this method we are able to see from past litters and adults whether there where any congenital defects or health issues that came up during the life of the previous studs and bitches and provide you with the highest quality puppies. We can also assure you that there are no inbreeding practices.

A puppy purchased at Marie-Phil Breeders will be registered with the Canadian (or American) Kennel Club and registered and microchipped with the CKC or corresponding bodies. We follow CKC breeding principles and breeding/selling practices.

Vaccination

The health of our dogs is extremely important to us as they are working dogs. Our Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are used in Zootherapy sessions with seniors and as such must be kept in the best shape possible, and as most people know if one animal is sick it can spread quickly. For this reason and many others all necessary vaccines are given to our puppies (and adults) and we make sure we have annual visits to the veterinarian. When you adopt a puppy from us, they will already have their 1st vaccination and you will receive their vaccination card for your records.

The zootherapy activities

Maintain or improve cognitive, physical, psychological or social potential

Pet therapy can be administered in private one on one sessions or for group therapy. “Zootherapy” uses a carefully selected and trained pet introduced by a qualified practitioner, pets such as “Daisy” (a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel) are given to a patient to elicit reactions and maintain or improve their cognitive, physical, psychological or social potential.

The pet therapy activities are carried out by professionals with training in a field of social sciences, health or education. Zootherapy Quebec offers them additional training in animal behavior. Every day, each practitioner teams up with two dogs and travels to client establishments.

Whether therapeutic or recreational, the activities are flexible and adaptable. They usually form part of an intervention plan prepared beforehand by the school, geriatric care facility or rehabilitation center.
